Description

A versatile, homemade Cream of Anything Soup Mix that’s easy to make, budget-friendly, and customizable. Just mix dry milk, cornstarch, and spices, then add broth or milk to create a creamy base for soups, casseroles, and more—no canned soup needed!


Ingredients

  • 2 Cups nonfat dry milk (or whole-fat)
  • 3/4 Cup cornstarch
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Make dry mix: In a large bowl combine dry milk and cornstarch before adding onion powder, garlic powder, basil, and black pepper. Mix well. Can store for later use.
  2. Make soup: Heat 1 cup of liquid (chicken broth, beef broth, vegetable broth, milk, or water) in a saucepan. Whisk in 1/4 Cup of dry soup mix, stirring constantly over medium heat until thickened (3-5 minutes)
  3. Options: Cream of chicken: Use chicken broth as the liquid. Cream of mushroom: Sauté mushrooms and onions, then add broth and the mix. Cream of celery: Sauté chopped celery before adding broth and the mix. Cream of beef: Use beef broth as the liquid
