More than a dozen people are hospitalized following an ammonia leak in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Authorities say around 2 p.m. Monday the Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant had an equipment malfunction leading to a release of ammonia, which lasted about ten minutes. Fortunately the wind was blowing from the south, causing most of the ammonia to blow across open farmland.
Forty-four people went to a Coffeyville hospital on their own, only 15 were admitted for observation.
