Daniel Noble's Career Cut Short By Concussion

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma sophomore defensive tackle Daniel Noble will miss the rest of his college career because of lingering effects from a concussion suffered last season.

OU head coach Bob Stoops confirmed the news Wednesday during the OU Caravan to Tulsa. As a true freshman last year, Noble saw action in five of the Sooners' first six games and recorded six tackles.

Noble suffered a concussion on Oct. 16 against Iowa State and missed the remainder of the season. He returned to the team for spring practice, but was unable to play in the annual Red-White game.

Noble is in the process of receiving a medical scholarship to OU, which would allow the Sooners one more scholarship to give to another recruit.

The loss of Noble will further damage OU's depth at defensive tackle, which already was thin. The Sooners now have just three players – Jamarkus McFarland, Stacy McGee and Casey Walker – with any college playing experience at the position.

The only other defensive tackles on the roster – Marquis Anderson, Eric Humphrey and Torrea Peterson – are either true or redshirt freshmen.
