Online Auction Profits from Oklahoma City Bombing

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Acts of violence can devastate a community, and one website is turning tragedy into treasure to make a quick buck, including making a profit off of the Oklahoma City bombing.

It's known as "murderabilla," items from past murders being auctioned off for money. Now, one person is hoping to cash in on what happened in Oklahoma City 13 years ago.

On MurderAuctiuon.com is an item, with the description showing a framed picture of Timothy McVeigh's mug shot along with a business card from his lawyer Stephen Jones. On the card is a hand written note his lawyer gave to someone.

The picture and the card are being sold together with the bid starting at $85, or you can buy it outright for $99.99.

"I think it is horrible. I don't think anyone needs to make a profit off this. Too many people lost their lives. I think it's terrible," said Karen Nelson, who was visiting the bombing memorial.

Terrible to many, but not all. The seller appears to have made money selling these kinds of items before. The site shows he has a favorable rating of 100 percent from those who have bought from him before, something Michelle Loot, who comes to the memorial every year, hopes people stop doing.

"I think it's sad we allow people to profit from people's tragedies. I think it's horrible," Michelle Loot said.

As for who is selling the item, NEWS 9 only knows the person lives in Canada. NEWS 9 tried to contact the website for comment, but they haven't returned any messages.
