OKLAHOMA CITY -- Quick action by Dr. Bauman and an important device helped save a life.
She was on a flight from Oklahoma City to Denver Friday morning when a passenger had an apparent heart attack. Airport Director Mark Kranenburg said Frontier 188 was 10 minutes into the flight shortly after 7 a.m. Friday when the medical emergency occurred.
Dr. Bauman and three other medical professionals were in the right place at the right time as they used a defibrillator as well as CPR to revive the man. He regained consciousness and was transported to a hospital after the flight returned.
Dr. Bauman said they were lucky to have a defibrillator on the flight with them to aid in bringing the man's pulse and breath back.
She said the American Heart Association is attempting to get defibrillators on all flights.
