POCASSET, Oklahoma -- A train derailed Monday afternoon in Grady County injuring two people.
Authorities said the conductor and engineer on the train were hospitalized while the truck driver apparently escaped serious injury. The conductor complained of a back injury. The engineer's injury was not immediately available.
Union Pacific spokeswoman Raquel Espinoza-Williams said two locomotives and 20 cars derailed near the town of Pocasset, about 12 miles north of Chickasha. Earlier reports by the OHP said 13 cars derailed.
"The two locomotives are on their side, the rail cars basically derailed in a pile," Espinoza-Williams said.
Troopers said there were no immediate reports of haz-mat spills or leaks.
The Union-Pacific hit a tractor-trailer rig that was hauling salt water.
