MOORE, Oklahoma -- A protest is being planned outside a metro high school.

The radical group from Kansas that targets military funerals has now set its sights on Moore High School and the school is taking action.

A letter was sent to student's parents Tuesday explaining police are working with the school to step up security.

Moore Public Schools sent out a notice to parents about protesters picketing at Moore High School Monday, March 2.

The protest group is from Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas, who is known for showing up at funerals for fallen service men and women. The group got a permit to set up outside of the school.

"A lot of people's beliefs are going to be hurt, their feelings are going to be hurt and I just really don't think it's for the common good, especially in this community" student Taylor Gardner said.

The school letter also strongly recommended students do not interact with the group. A neighboring church is sending the same message.

"We're telling our youth to do their best to walk away from any confrontation," Fresh Start Community Church Pastor David Dooley said. "Our job is to do our best, even when presented with a difficult situation, is to handle it with grace and peace and sometimes walk away when we need to and let His love do the talking in our lives."

The school's superintendent says officers will be on site to control traffic as well as offer security for student safety.
