Man Charged with Child Abuse of 5-week-old

ADA, Oklahoma -- Prosecutors in Ada have charged a man with child abuse for serious injuries to a 5-week-old baby, including a fractured skull and a fracture above each knee.

Travis Dempsey was charged Wednesday in Pontotoc County District Court.

Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian investigated the case after the child was taken to Valley View Regional Hospital with a broken thigh bone, and then transferred to OU Medical Center.

The 29-year-old man is being held in jail with bail set at $250,000.

In a statement from Sheriff John Christian, Dempsey admitted to abusing the child multiple times when he lost his temper.
