A strong storm cell pelted Los Angeles early today, causing some flooding lots
of mud - but no major slides.
Preliminary rainfall totals show that between one and two inches fell on the
Southland before 10a. -
Typically, the mountains and valleys get higher totals, but rainfall totals
were fairly evenly distributed across the Los Angeles Basin, with spots such
as  Burbank logging just 1.07 inches.     A flash flood watch will be in
effect  from through this afternoon for much of Los Angeles County, the Orange
County  coastal areas and Santa Ana mountains and foothills.
High wind warnings will be in effect until 3 p.m. today, according to the
National Weather Service.
Two feet of snow or more is forecast for elevations above about 4,500 feet.
