The Polar Plunge 2009

NEWS 9's own Doug Warner is ready to take the Polar Plunge!  On Saturday, February 28, 2009, he will join other brave souls to take a dip in the frigid water at the Bass Pro Shop in Oklahoma City.

Doug hopes you'll help him help others by sponsoring his Polar Plunge. Participants in the 8^th annual Polar Plunge help raise money for Special Olympics Oklahoma. You can support Doug's plunge by visiting www.firstgiving.com/dougwarner or call 1-800-722-9004 and donate in Doug's name.

Even if you're not taking the plunge, it's an entertaining day for the entire family, since many Polar Plungers show up in costume for the event. There are six Polar Plunges this year.  They are: 

• Saturday, February 7, 2009, Norman Polar Plunge at Hal Neiman Field
• Saturday, February 7, 2009, Broken Arrow Polar Plunge at the Bass Pro
• Saturday, February 14, 2009, Stillwater Polar Plunge at Boomer Lake
• Saturday, February 21, 2009, Lawton Polar Plunge at the Holiday Inn Express
• Saturday, February 28, 2009, Oklahoma City Polar Plunge at the Bass Pro
• Saturday, February 28, 2009, Tahlequah Polar Plunge at the Arrowhead Resort

Prizes will be awarded for the following Plunge contests:

• Top Fundraising Group
• Best costume
• Oldest Plunger
• Youngest Plunger
