OKLAHOMA CITY -- Companies across the nation are recalling more food, fearing it may be tainted by salmonella.

The latest products to be pulled don't contain peanut ingredients from the company in question, but they were made at plants where other products, which have been associated with the outbreak, may have been produced.

Mother Cheri Holmes said she closely watches what she purchases at the grocery store.

"At first, I kept track of what was being recalled specifically," Holmes said. "Once it got bigger and bigger, I said, 'Forget it, it's not even worth it.'"

Like many others, she threw out any peanut based products. The list recognizes 800 recalled products, but while Crest Foods manager Dale Brooks continues to watch the shelves of his store closely. He said customers should feel confident because although the list is long, it has been growing for awhile now.

"Anything recalled, we get a fax in the morning time and take it off the shelf," Brooks said.

Brooks said most of the recalled products are sold near the Georgia plant that is currently under investigation.

Brooks said many of the products are regional and are not available in Oklahoma.

Holmes said at the end of the day, shoppers like her hold a lot of responsibility as well.

"Pay attention on the consumer end to make sure you're doing what you need to do to be safe," Holmes said.

The FDA said they've found nothing wrong with jarred peanut butter.

Remember to check it routinely because new items are being added almost daily.
