GUTHRIE, Oklahoma -- In these tough times, older Oklahomans are finding relief from their ever tightening budgets.
More and more Oklahomans are coming to the Highland Hall in Guthrie for a free meal. The Logan County Aging Services serves four different sites and the kitchen crew of four cooks more than 200 meals every day.
For some folks, it's their only hot meal.
"The food bills are higher, so we don't have as much or have as good as food as you call it as we used to," Donita Morain said.
For others like Ben Carpenter, bringing home part of a meal helps during these trying times.
"I live alone and I don't cook, so my option would be to go to a fast food place or to a restaurant," Carpenter said.
Nearly 70 guests pack the hall for a meal everyday and long time diners said it's a great place, not just for a home cooked meal, but for a hang out and good company.
