NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Restaurant sales plunged more than two percent nationally last month, the biggest decline in more than seven years, but parts of Oklahoma aren't seeing that trend. In Norman it appears to be the opposite.

Campus Corner's Café Plaid has added new seating to accommodate hungry customers.

"We are very proud of the fact that we have been able to grow in a slow consumer market," manager of Café Plaid, Jason Skel said.

Skel attributes a lot of the restaurant's success to the location being walking distance from the university. But, even the restaurants that are not continue to bring in dollars.

"So far, things have been good," Anne-Mary Suggs with the Norman Chamber of Commerce said."We feel fortunate that we are better off than other states and communities right now."

Norman eateries have seen business increase despite menu prices going up more than five percent in the Oklahoma City area over the past year.
