Changing Face of Oklahoma City's Homeless

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Local social service agencies will do their best to get an exact count of Oklahoma City's homeless population at the annual Point In Time count, required in every community that receives federal housing funds.

Recent counts put the city's growing number of homeless near 2,000; seven percent of them under age 17, 16 percent of them veterans and almost 30 percent mentally ill.

But numbers don't begin to describe who Oklahoma City's homeless really are, which is why NEWS 9's Alex Cameron put together a series of reports on the changing face of Oklahoma City's homeless.

For more information about the homeless or how to help, call (405) 632-2293 or visit the Homeless Alliance's Web site.
