OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City firefighters battled five grass fires across the metro Saturday afternoon.

Fire officials said the amount of grass burned in all the fires was well over 13 acres. Firefighters were able to get to the scenes of the grass fires before the blazes got out of control.

The Oklahoma City Fire, Forest Park Fire and Spencer Fire departments were working on a 10 acre grass fire at NE 55 Street and Post Road. No structures were involved in the blaze.

Oklahoma City firefighters also responded to a grass fire at NE 63 Street and Carol Drive. Large trees and brush made the fire difficult to get to and control. Firefighters said a cigarette caused the three acres to burn.

"Citizen's a lot of times don't realize, don't notice the cigarette isn't out and throw it out the window. The breeze catches the fire, as dry as it is right now, it doesn't take anything to get it going again," Oklahoma City Fire Batt. Chief Steve Lumry said.

No injuries have been reported.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department also responded to a four to five acre grass fire near the 12300 block of W Reno Avenue Saturday. No structures were in danger.

Edmond firefighters responded to a grass fire at NE 150 Street & Post Road. There have been no reports of injuries or structure damage.
