STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State will return to the Holiday Bowl for the first time since Barry Sanders' Heisman Trophy season 20 years ago, and face No. 15 Oregon of the Pac-10 Conference.
The No. 13 Cowboys are going to a bowl game for the sixth time in the last seven years and will try to tie the school record with a 10th win. It will be Oklahoma State's first meeting with the Ducks, who also finished this season 9-3.
The Cowboys are 12-6 in postseason bowls, with its .667 winning percentage in bowl play topping the Big 12 Conference.
The Cowboys last played in the Holiday Bowl in 1988 against Wyoming and came away with a 62-14 win. Mike Gundy was the quarterback of that OSU team, and he'll become the first person ever to play and coach in a Holiday Bowl.
The game will be played in San Diego on Dec. 30.
