Cashion, Oklahoma -- Logan County residents are being warned that their drinking water is unsafe for infants.

A public notice claims water in the Logan County Rural Water District No. 2  should not be fed or used to make formula for children under six months of age.

The rural water district serves southwest Logan County and southeast Kingfisher County, including the town of Cashion and Cedar Valley Golf Course.

The water is unsafe for infants because it contains high levels of nitrate. Boiling, freezing, filtering and letting the water stand will not reduce the nitrate levels, according to the public notice.

The water is safe for adult consumption, but people who are pregnant or have specific health concerns are urged to consult their doctors.
