Student Awarded Inauguration Tickets

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma -- A Mid-Del fifth grader is going to Washington D.C. to witness the Inauguration ceremony.

Avery Jordan inspired an Oklahoma Congressman 50 years his senior, making such an impression that the Congressman is securing him two tickets to the event.

Teachers at Cleveland Bailey Elementary call Jordan a hard-working student.

It was Jordan's hard work in and out of the classroom that he pointed out in a letter to Congressman Tom Cole.

Jordan wrote a letter describing his community involvement in hopes of getting tickets to go see President-elect Barack Obama's Inauguration.

"This election is important to be because it is interesting to be a part of history," Jordan said.

After receiving a call from Congressman Cole, Jordan learned he was getting two tickets to go to Washington, D.C.

"This is going to be the chance of a lifetime," Jordan said. "I'm going to see President-elect Obama become President."

The President-elect has inspired this 10-year-old to do great things.

"It doesn't matter what color your skin is," Jordan said. "You can do anything you set your mind to. You can do anything anybody else can do."

Jordan will attend the inauguration with his older cousin, who inspired him to write his congressman.
