Wynnewood Woman Turns 104

WYNNEWOOD, Oklahoma -- One of Oklahoma's oldest residents recently celebrated her 104th birthday.

Johnnie Biles of Wynnewood doesn't need a calculator to add up her birthdays. She was there. She knows she's 104. However, when it comes to sending invitations to all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren - a calculator sure would help.

Four generations of loved ones packed the Wynnewood Care Center to celebrate Biles' birthday.

"I can still remember the day that we came to Oklahoma when I was only 3-years-old," Biles said.

About the only thing Biles can't quite remember is the exact number of her extended family.

"I just don't remember how many grandchildren and great grandchildren I've got," Biles said.

Who can blame her? Her report card, from 1913, shows that arithmetic wasn't her strongest subject.

Biles' youngest of seven helped in counting all the faces.

"She had 21 grandchildren, 41 greats and 35 great, greats, and add in the seven children," Biles' youngest said.

When you add Biles' newest great, great grandson, who was born just three months ago, it totals to 104.

Biles' family tried to get all 104 members together when she turned 100 - only they came up a little short.

But next year it looks like the family will be sending out 106 birthday invites.

"The Lord will take care of it," Biles said. "He's been awful good to me. If the Lord wants me to live that long, that's up to him."

Family members love the story about how she traveled from Maysville to Ada - by wagon. It took seven days.

Biles turned 104 this past Thursday.
