OKLAHOMA CITY - Firefighters are investigating fires that destroyed two homes within blocks of each other last month.

The fires were in the southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood of Cascata Lakes. The first fire started about 2 a.m. at 2601 S.W. 139th St. Firefighters have not determined a cause, but homeowner Otis Himes said he has his suspicions.

"My gut feeling is someone set it on fire," Himes said.

A few blocks away that night another fire destroyed a home that was under construction.

Investigators determined that someone broke into the house and started the fire.

Firefighters said the proximity of the fires made it difficult to control the blazes and made investigators suspicious.

"When you get two house fires within minutes of each other, same addition and blocks of each other, it does throw up red flags to us," Deputy Chief Cecil Clay said.

Investigators urge anyone with information to call (405) 232-7766.
