OKLAHOMA CITY -- Obama's historic election is certainly the talk in circles Wednesday, especially in Oklahoma's black community.

Many generations throughout the state agreed the election of Obama is a great stride for minorities, but would not have been possible had it not been for the Civil Rights movement.

"I think it comes back down to historical legacy," Langston student Jasen Luper said.

Jasen Luper's grandmother is Oklahoma Civil rights pioneer Clara Luper, who fought to end segregation in public facilities in Oklahoma in the 1950's and 60's.

"There was so many things that went through my mind," Luper said. "A spirit of gratitude and appreciation for the United States of America."
