NORMAN, Okla. -- Eddie Maxwell said a tow truck ran him off the road Monday night while he was driving home in Norman.

Maxwell said he was delayed while returning home from work, heading north along Sunnylane Road, when he noticed a red tow truck driving behind him.

"He pulled up behind me, sped up and hit me, and kept going," Maxwell said.

Maxwell's car, a white 1995 Chevy Lumina, flipped over, striking an electric pole, taking out a mailbox, before coming to a stop upside down in a ditch. The tow truck drove away, Maxwell said.

"It would have to be a sick person to do that," Maxwell said. "Even if maybe they were under the influence, still someone should have stopped. If you hit someone, you stop and make sure that person is okay."

Maxwell sustained a bruised knee, gashes in his arm, and a swollen forehead from the wreck.

No witnesses have spoken out about the crash and no one has admitted responsibility, angering some of Maxwell's family, including his wife, Linda.

"I was so angry, because he's hurt," Linda Maxwell said. "We have to go through all this because of somebody else's actions, and then they're not adult enough to step forward."

The Maxwell family has limited medical insurance and due to the crash, they are left without a vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Norman Police Department.
