Police wound man

A man has been injured in a shootout with Oklahoma City police.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A man has been injured in a shootout with Oklahoma City police.

Police Capt. Steve McCool said the man, whom police are still trying to identify, was arrested after a short manhunt and rushed to a hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

McCool said Sgt. Claylan Cline and officer Tyrel Hynd responded to a shots-fired call at 3:05 p.m. They approached the residence at 715 SE 49 Street and found an open front door. Officers could see the suspect sitting at a table.

McCool said the man picked up a gun and fired. Cline fired back, but the man ran into the house and escaped through a back window.

An intensive search for the suspect began, inclduing K-9 and Air 1 units.

Around 5:40 a.m., a 911 call led officers to 336 SE 57 Street in reference to a wounded man. Police found the man lying on a front porch with a gunshot wound.

Cline was placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The suspect was arrested on one count of assault and battery with a deadly weapon on an Officer.  Other charges may apply once the investigation is complete.
