OKLAHOMA CITY -- A John Marshall high school student is facing disciplinary action after attempting to sneak a BB gun into school.

The 14-year-old was caught trying to smuggle the weapon in through his backpack. The gun was discovered in a routine search of the student's backpack.

The school conducts regular searches of its students through backpack searches and metal detectors.

"Our school officer responded immediately, took the student into the office and then began to question the student and figure out how this happened and why this happened," John Marshall High School principal Corey Harris said.

School officials removed the student from the campus, and are considering what disciplinary action it will take against the student.

No students were in danger during the incident.

This is the third time in a week a student has been caught with a gun at a metro school.

On Monday a 14-year-old brought a loaded pistol to U.S. Grant High School. Thursday, a fourth grader was caught with a toy gun in his backpack at Bodine Elementary School.
