EDMOND, Okla. -- Some residents in Edmond are angry after having their political yard signs stolen and defaced. Some of the Barack Obama signs may even include racial slurs.

In an old Edmond neighborhood, residents adorn their yards with signs supporting their pick for president. However, some said their freedom to express themselves was taken away after some of their signs had been defaced.

"The next morning I went up and down the streets, saw them all painted up," resident David McNeely said. "I think there was seven of them, painted with these offensive words."

Words such a "NOBAMA" and others made residents upset, but the signs bearing the "N" word raised even more than speculation.

"Well, there are racists, there are bigots in America," McNeely. "We know that, and here is a demonstration of it."

Resident Paula Blackstock shares McNeely's frustration as her Obama sign was stolen.

"I was really mad, because I thought, ‘Okay, I live in the United States, I have first amendment rights," Blackstock said. "It made me really sad, because I thought that I lived in an area where people have a little more class than this, and maybe were better educated than this."

Residents whose signs were taken plan to put some back up immediately.

Edmond police do not have any suspects at this point.

If caught, the vandals are facing a ticket of $250 if you know anything, call Edmond Police.
