EDMOND, Okla. -- A 20-year-old University of Central Oklahoma football player is accused of raping a teenager.

Zachary Drew was arrested Tuesday on a complaint of rape by instrumentation.

Drew fondled a 16-year-old girl at a party earlier this month, according to authorities.

Police said on Labor Day, they were called to the Dillon Park apartments in Edmond to investigate complaints of vandalism. While at the complex, police were given another tip.

"The girl who had the apartment talked to the officer," Glynda Chu of Edmond PD said.

Police said there was underage drinking occurring at the party, including the 16-year-old Santa Fe student who alleged Drew assaulted her. According to witnesses, she fell asleep after consuming several shots of vodka and the young man went over to her, sat down by her and put his hands under the covers.

The police report revealed the witnesses did nothing about the incident, later telling the victim, "they saw the guy do it, but he was bigger than them."

"The girl woke up a while later and went into the bathroom and found blood on her clothing," Chu said. "At that point, her friends told her ‘we know what happened to you, we saw this happening.'"

Drew, a resident of Choctaw, said he doesn't remember what happened, but failed a lie detector test.

"Underage drinking can really ruin your life," Chu said. "It has touched the lives of these two young people in such an adverse way."

UCO officials said the offensive lineman has since been suspended from the team, pending the outcome of the investigation.
