CHICKASHA, Okla. -- A string of random burglaries in the last few months are costing some Grady County residents thousands of dollars.

Just in the last month police say there were 35 burglaries in town but because the crime is so random, they need your help in catching the burglars.

Burglars are breaking into random businesses and homes around Chickasha, and what they're taking is just as random.

"It's amazing what they're taking, I mean they're taking stuff from like a bottle of Gatorade, an old dust pan, candy bowls, it's just amazing all the way up to the more expensive things, laptops, TV, stuff like that," Chickasha Assistant Police Chief Elip Moore said.

Julius Haralson lost his laptop after a thief targeted his long-time business.

"I have 10 years of history with sign jobs, pricing, nothing that would be of value to anybody else but it was of value to me," Haralson said.

Haralson noticed cash was also taken from the register.

"They just kicked in the back door, tore up the back door, and came in and tore up the cash register in order to get a few dollars out of it," Haralson said.

No two crimes are alike. For instance, at Ludwell Chiropractic the burglar didn't take anything but left behind several souvenirs.

"I found a sledgehammer and then a first aid kit that he also threw in," business owner Chris Ludwell said. "I don't know what that was all about."

Hundreds of dollars in damages was done to the door, as well.

The suspect involved in that burglary was arrested after a patient took down the tag numbers.

"We're fortunate, like I said, we live in a small town and people watch out for each other, it's kind of nice," Ludwell said.

Police said the crimes are not connected and that they have made some arrests.

If you have any information on any of these crimes, call the Chickasha Police at 222-6050.
