Friday 9:21pm -- Getting out of dodge

We've relocated to downtown Houston to see what Ike has in store for the 4th largest city in the U.S. Winds are picking up here, but only about 35 mph right now.

We were originally planning to set up next to the Hilton high rise in Clear Lake, Texas

Several other news live crews had cozied up to the building to protect their SAT trucks and crews during live shots, but it didn't look right to us.

The winds were coming up, water was already creeping into the parking lot, and we didn't like the "escape" route.

On the advice of meteorologists back home we got out of dodge. Good thing too.

I just saw that a few minutes after we left some of the hotel's windows shattered, and part of the siding was torn off and crashed down on the news trucks.

Can't beat a little luck and a little "Okie" stormchasing know how.
