NBA team moves into metro offices

OKLAHOMA CITY -- When Hurricane Katrina hit three years ago, Oklahoma City hosted the city's Hornets for two seasons.

Because of the Oklahoma City's with the team, the metro will soon be the home to an N-B-A team of it's own.

On Friday, four moving trucks arrived to the team's business offices to unpack at its new residence.

The sight of the large moving fleet stopped Mayor Mick Cornett and City manager James Couch in their tracks across the street.

"These trucks today are part of another few weeks of equipment coming in through our movers so you'll see more trucks downtown for sure," said V.P. of Guest Relations Pete Winemiller.

The trucks are full of 10,000 pounds of office furniture, computers, equipment, along with a few basketballs.

It took coordination to bring the supplies 2,000 miles, from Seattle to Oklahoma City.

"It's a challenge, but it's worked out nicely," employee Nicole Gatbunton said.

She moved to the metro with the team.

"I'm waiting for a lot of files. I'm waiting for my chair," Gatbunton said. "I miss my old chair."

Once the supplies arrived and were unpacked, Gatbunton said the office felt comfortable.

"We've just kind of been making do with what we have," Gatbunton said. "We'll be able to get settled in and work fully I think."

Officials have yet to grant the team its new name, but the a scheduled announcement will take place Wednesday at 5 p.m. and will be live streamed at News9.com
