DOC van crashes while carrying inmates

A Department of Corrections van carrying inmates crashed into a tractor-trailer truck this afternoon on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike, authorities said.

CHICKASHA, Okla. -- A Department of Corrections van carrying inmates crashed into a tractor-trailer truck Thursday on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike, authorities said.

The wreck happened about a mile north of Chickasha, said Jack Damrill of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. Three inmates and one corrections officer were taken to Grady County Memorial Hospital after suffering head and neck injuries.

Four other inmates were transported to the Grady County Jail.
