OKLAHOMA CITY -- A metro man was arrested Thursday morning after leading police on a high-speed chase through north Oklahoma City.

Khalil A. Jones, 29, was arrested on several complaints including: burglary, possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, and attempting to escape felony arrest, police said.

The pursuit began near NW 10 and Rockwell Avenue. Officers Jones said had made a verbal threat to his girlfriend during a domestic dispute. Police said the girlfriend called police and when they arrived on the scene they saw Jones leaving and the chase began.

"The suspect threw out several baggies that we believe contain narcotics, much of that is contained and is in police custody," Lt. Mike Norris said.

Jones navigated to Interstate 44 and then exited on Lincoln Boulevard before barging into an apartment to the east of the State Capitol, authorities said.

Officers forced their way into the apartment and took Jones into custody. Police said Jones did not know the maintenance worker who lived in the apartment.

Neighbors said they were concerned by the way Jones entered the apartment.

"That's scary cause that means he could readily run into my apartment, kick in my door or anyone's apartment over here, it makes me nervous," Herbert Coles said.

Police said Jones attempted to escape when police were bringing him into the county jail.  He tried to distract an officer and take off on foot.  He only got a few steps in before police redirected him into the jail.
