Give 'Bucks for Bikes'

Every year Oklahoma children ask for a bike at Christmas and the Salvation Army and Women's Auxiliary are working to make that wish come true.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Every year Oklahoma children ask for a bike at Christmas and the Salvation Army and Women's Auxiliary are working to make that wish come true.

People are asked to donate money into Bucks for Bikes buckets. The money is used to buy new bicycles for needy children.

The program donates bikes to children through Angel Tree.

The program is looking to raise enough money to buy around 200 bicycles. You can find the buckets in over 50 locations across the city through the month of August.

D'Anna Pulliam, a member of Women's Auxiliary said the bikes help boost kid's self esteem and give them a sense of responsibility.

The RedHawks are also helping out the program. RedHawks fans can drop of new bicycles at the Salvation Army at 311 SW 5 Street or that the Bricktown Ballpark ticket office and they will receive 10 tickets to an upcoming game.
