City workers converted five one-way streets into two-way streets in downtown Oklahoma City on Saturday.

"The traffic flow actually works better with one-way streets," OKC Public Works director Dennis Clowers said. "You can carry more traffic, but the access is better with two-way streets, people are able to find their destinations easier."

The streets undergoing the conversion are:

- North Hudson Avenue from NW 6th Street to NW 13th Street
- North Harvey Avenue from NW 6th Street to NW 13th Street
- North Robinson Avenue from NW 6th Street to NW 13th Street
- NW 5th Street from North Western Avenue to North Walker Avenue
- NW 6th Street from North Western Avenue to North Oklahoma Avenue

Some residents said they believe the conversions will make downtown driving safer.

Other residents suggest the conversions might cause more confusion than they prevent.

City officials said this may take some getting used to, but they've done their best to make people aware of the changes and hoped for a smooth transition.
