Station 7 of the Oklahoma City Fire Department is closing its doors and could be moving the firefighters to another location.

"This is kind of a sad day for them," Deputy Chief Cecil Clay said. "We've had some ongoing issues with the structure."

The ‘issues' come from the water lines in the station.

Lieutenant Joe Milner said one of the faucets in the station doesn't work and the clogged drain in a shower forces drainage through the wall, cracking the tile.

The water's also washing away the station's foundation, according the Clay.

"Underneath the slab of this building, the dirt is just washing out," Clay said. "It will be an expensive project, there's no doubt about that."

The firefighters living in the fire home have no choice but to move out. Clay said his men will continue to serve the south side neighborhood.

Clay said the Fire Department hired architect and engineering firm to study the building, but if it's too expensive to remodel the station, the Department will ask the City for money to build a new firehouse in the same neighborhood.
