Oklahoma farmers say they're seeing an increase in business after authorities said the Sooner State's tomatoes are not part of the recent salmonella outbreak.

Shoppers are hitting the state's Farmer's Markets after the Food and Drug Administration announced that tomatoes grown and harvested in the state are safe for consumption.

"I'm not afraid of things like salmonella when i buy food down here," market shopper Gail Mattingly said.

Robert Stelle said his organic produce is popular.

"It has helped tremendously," he said of the outbreak. "I didn't know the scare was coming. Had I foreseen that, I probably should have doubled the amount I had,"

While metro farmers markets mostly sell locally grown produce, some do have out-of-state vendors.

Health officials recommend that shoppers ask to make sure the vendor's state is not associated with the salmonella outbreak.
