An overturned truck with 88 heads of cattle is causing problems for downtown Tulsa motorists. Some of the cattle perished in the wreck, authorities said.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Tulsa Fire Department are at the scene of the accident on Interstate 244 at the Tisdale Expressway, which is the northwest corner of the IDL.

The driver of the semi-truck told Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers the load shifted, causing the truck to overturn.  There were 88 head of cattle in the truck and troopers say many of the cattle did survive.

Westbound traffic has been slowed because of the collision.

Crews have been called in to help unload the cattle from the overturned semi and load them into another truck.
