Couple shot in failed carjacking, police say

A couple was shot early this morning after trying to escape a would-be carjacker, police said. 

Someone tried to steal a couple's car at gunpoint while they sat outside a Walgreens at NW 50 St. and N May Ave. at around 1 a.m. Thursday morning, authorities said. When the woman tried to drive off, the suspect started shooting at the car. 

Emergency workers said the woman was shot in the leg and the man was shot in the face. The man was transported in critical condition; the woman was not seriously injured. Both are said to be in relatively good condition at a local area hospital, authorities said.

No arrests have been made.
