Oklahomans search out local produce

Concerns over tainted tomatoes have Oklahomans looking elsewhere to stock up on their fruits and veggies.

Farmers' market vendors said they've seen an increase in business since the FDA announced that tomatoes infected with salmonella have been found in Oklahoma.

"Tomatoes have really gone off the chart because of the scare," vendor J.B. Pratt said.

Barbara Stelle said she's seen an increase in her sales as people seek out locally grown foods.

"The contamination has got people thinking where their food is grown," Stelle said.

Local grown foods are brought first-time shopper Tina McKinley to the Farmers Market in Oklahoma City.

"They're better," McKinley said. "They taste better. I also like to support the Oklahoma farmers."
