The Cherokee Nation is rolling out a public relations campaign.

It's hoping to rebuild the tribe's image after 3,000 black Cherokees were voted out of the tribe last year.

The tribe has been facing pressure from federal lawmakers to allow the decendents of black slaves or freedmen, back into the tribe, or lose their federal funding.

The Cherokee Nation has set up two websites to try and debunk misconceptions about the Freedman vote.

The tribe calls it "straight talk" but Freedmen supporters call it "propaganda."

The websites also say cutting off federal funds would cause a devastating economic ripple effect across northeastern Oklahoma.
