YUKON, Okla. -- The state Department of Human Services is investigating a Yukon day care center after a woman reported her daughter was left alone inside a van.

DHS spokeswoman Stephanie Bond says a complaint has been filed against Bright Beginnings Learning Center.

Bond declined further comment but day care owner Cassie Pomeroy says a teacher accidentally left a 6-year-old girl in an unlocked van for 30 to 90 seconds last Friday.

Pomeroy says the girl apparently had fallen asleep after a field trip to a zoo.

She says the teacher who left the girl in the van has resigned and the day care is cooperating with DHS.
