Monday marks the fifth straight day of record heat across the Southwest U.S.  Afternoon highs Monday are expected to climb into the 100's in many parts of California, Nevada, and Arizona.

Record highs were set again Sunday, including 118 degrees Fahrenheit at Death Valley, California.  This is the earliest in the year that Death Valley has ever gotten this hot.  The old record for the earliest hottest day year-to-date was May 22, 2000.
