Firefighters get upper hand on Florida wildfire

Florida firefighters are making major gains in battling a wildfire that's burned thousands of acres along the Atlantic coast.

PALM BAY, Fla. -- Florida firefighters are making major gains in battling a wildfire that's burned thousands of acres along the Atlantic coast.

Schools in the region reopened today. Electricity is being restored.

Police have been questioning a man seen throwing a Molotov cocktail into a wooded area.

Residents are starting to return, finding about 20 homes destroyed and 140 structures damaged.

Flames scorched about 15 square miles in Palm Bay and Malabar.

Meantime, scattered fires across the state burned about 40 square miles. Most are in Glades County in an area around Lake Okeechobee. About 1,000 acres are burned on the Brighton Seminole Indian Reservation. No structures are involved.
