Southside fire destroys cars

A fire on the southwest side of the city is under investigation Monday morning, fire officials said.

The fire broke out at 1221 SW 26 St., between Blackwelder Ave. and McKinley Ave., in a detached garage away from the home just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday night. Two residents were home at the time, but no one was injured.

The cars inside the garage were heavily damaged, officials said.

Officials have not released a damage estimate at this time.
