Storms possible Saturday night & Sunday morning

Posted: Updated:

By News9 Meteorologist Nick Bender

Another round of showers and thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon across the northwest part of the state, progressing eastward overnight.

Areas south of Interstate-40, especially along the Red River Valley, stand the best chance of receiving stormy weather Saturday night and Sunday morning. Some storms may pack a punch; small hailstones, gusty winds, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and brief heavy downpours. While the lion's share of severe weather will take place along the I-20 corridor across North-central Texas, an isolated severe thunderstorm or two is not out of the question across southern Oklahoma overnight; large hailstones and strong winds being the primary threats.

The rain and storms will end from northwest to southeast Sunday morning, leaving the state in the clear for the remainder of Sunday afternoon.
