Oklahoma City police say the body found in a burned sport utility vehicle is that of a missing Oklahoma City woman and that she committed suicide.

The body of 36-year-old Sheila Macy was found in the SUV Thursday afternoon in a rural area just east of Edmond by an Edmond police officer.

According to authorities, Macy didn't want to be found. She was likely in the process of ending her life, authorities said.

Authorities confirmed that Macy's cause of death was suicide, the result of a fire she allegedly set inside her SUV.

"On Wednesday, the day she was reported missing, she drove to that location and set fire. Apparently, after that she died from smoke inhalation as a result of that fire," Oklahoma City Police Department Sgt. Gary Knight said.

Macy had been reported missing by her husband after she left home Wednesday morning but failed to show up at her job as a physical therapist.

A memorial fund has been set up for the family of Sheila Macy at any Banc First branch.
