A law that would require insurance companies to cover autism treatment is heading to the state Senate.
Nick's Law had been killed in a Republican-led House committee, but moved on after being attached to another bill. Lawmakers credit families who fought to keep the legislation alive.
"It is that pressure and that very deep passion on the part of these families that has gotten us this far; and I think, ultimately, will get us to enact this into law," Sen. Jay Paul Gumm, D-District 6.
The bill was attached to House Bill 2531 which extends the Medicaid Reform Act of 2006.
