Freeze expected Monday morning

Find the big coat, gloves, ear muffs or whatever you wear on a cold winter day - because that's exactly what Monday will feel like across the majority of the state.

A cold, Canadian high pressure system will continue to sag southward into the Plain States Sunday night and Monday morning. Clearing skies, calm wind and dry conditions will promote optimal cooling at the surface. The long short of it, it's going to be cold Monday morning.

Temperatures will bottom out in the middle 20s across northern Oklahoma, around freezing along the I-40 corridor, and in the lower 30s near the Red River Valley. Several hours of freezing and below freezing temperatures are expected from Woodward, to Ponca City and Enid, to Tulsa, while areas farther south may get away with "touch and go" cold.

Needless to say, temperatures this cold will do damage to outside tender vegetable. If you are unable to bring your plants inside, do your best to cover them up with a sheet, newspaper or even straw, so your plants aren't in direct contact with the air. This will help minimize the impending freeze.
