Midwest City -- Police Chief Brandon Clabes is calling Tuesday's shootings in a mobile home a murder/suicide.
Arlondoe Carl Jones, 36, of Oklahoma City, shot and killed Doris Jean Potts, 40, of Moore, as she stood in the living room of a mobile home at 6708 Klipspringer around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Midwest City Police said.
According to the five witnesses inside the trailer at the time of the shooting, Potts showed up at the trailer unannounced and then a few moments later Jones arrived.
Jones and Potts recently ended a long term relationship and had two children together. Jones was upset about their strained relationship, Potts' relatives told police, and when he first entered the trailer, a casual conversation took place between the two of them.
According to police, Jones then left the trailer, went to his car and retrieved a .12 gauge shotgun. When he came back inside, he immediately shot Potts once in the right chest and then in the neck. Her wounds were fatal.
As the witnesses fled the trailer, they heard one more shot and discovered Jones lying dead also. Police were contacted and secured the scene.
Next of kin were notified late Tuesday night and the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's office has ruled the case a "murder/suicide".
Both the suspect and victim have extensive criminal histories, said police.
