Managers at Prism Place like to hire people who are overlooked by other businesses.

The Oklahoma City business makes awards of all kinds with a workforce of primarily special needs people, said Mark Claunch, sales and marketing director.

"We produce acrylic awards, plaques and trophies for retail for Oklahoma as well as wholesale acrylic awards nationwide," Claunch said. "Trophies are probably the favorite thing for our individuals to do because our individuals actually put these together."

Claunch said creating the pieces is harder than it looks.

"Hand and eye coordination is one of the factors," Claunch said. "We have a lot of individuals that will come over and train and based on how they handle it and how comfortable they are with these types of products depends on whether they work in Prism Place."

Claunch said that he is proud of what they accomplish.

"That's the big thing with Prism Place, to be able to see the individuals make this piece because it comes into us raw," Claunch said. "They are actually buffing, polishing, sanding, and finishing the product and creating an award like this."
