Fire danger plagued western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle again Thursday.

Recent heavy rainfall missed this region almost entirely, keeping conditions dry. Strong winds from the southwest sustained at 20 to 30 mph gusting up to around 40 mph at times through a region of low relative humidity in the 10 to 20 percent range.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. for far western Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Panhandle.

These strong winds are also affecting parts of west-central and north-central Oklahoma Thursday afternoon.

A Wind Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. High profile vehicles may experience difficulty traveling, especially on east-west roadways. This region of the state did receive beneficial rains this week, but any fires that do begin are still prone to spreading rapidly.
